Julia Rae is only 19, but has already been performing as a singer and dancer for several years. She’s performed at such venues as the Kimmel Center of the Arts in Philadelphia and with the Ocean City Pops; has sung the National Anthem at Philadelphia Phillies games; was a featured singer at the Channel 6-ABC IKEA Thanksgiving Day Parades; and was featured as a solo performer in Las Vegas at Planet Hollywood. In July 2008, Julia was crowned Miss Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen, a sister program of the Miss America organization devoted to promoting scholastic achievement, creative accomplishment, healthy living and community involvement. As Miss Pennsylvania's Outstanding Teen, Julia was featured on Comcast Newsmakers as an on-air guest. She was named one of the top ten models in Philadelphia by Philadelphia Phasion Phest. She has modeled in numerous bridal shows, local runway events and print advertisements.
At birth, Julia was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis, a chronic lung disease. She grew up trying to reconcile why she would be born with a lung disease, and be given the gift of singing. As a teen, she decided to use her voice in a special way and founded a non-profit foundation called Singing At the Top of My Lungs. Her mission with Singing At the Top of My Lungs is to build awareness and fund research for a cure for Cystic Fibrosis and to empower children to reach for their dreams no matter their challenges.
This Fall, her song Be That Girl will be featured in the new motion picture The Greening of Whitney Brown, starring Aidan Quinn, Brooke Shields, Kris Kristofferson and Sammi Hanratty. The premiere will be in New York, November 7.
